American Trucking Association Names New President

The largest national trade association for the trucking industry has named Chris Spear as its next president and chief executive officer. Spear will start July 9.

Spear is the former American Trucking Associations senior vice president of legislative affairs, and the current vice president of government affairs at Hyundai Motor Company. He will succeed Bill Graves, who is retiring after almost 14 years as ATA‘s president and CEO, ATA announced on Friday. Graves will also serve as an advisor to ATA for the rest of the year.

“Trucking is the backbone of our economy and a catalyst for American job growth, delivering critical goods to businesses and homes coast-to-coast,” Spear said in a statement. “I am excited to work alongside ATA’s members and federation partners to ensure the industry continues to prosper and safely move our nation forward.
